The Vaporesso XROS 5 is the current flagship of the best-known pod family in vaping, and it arrives with a 1500 mAh battery, COREX 3.0 pods and a colour screen for $39.99 at Aroma Rush. Pod kits rarely get close to a consensus verdict from independent testers - this one does. This review compares four hands-on reviews from independent outlets, verifies the specs, and flags the one limitation the marketing does not mention.
How we review: every specification is verified against manufacturer data, and the hands-on findings are drawn from independent reviewers - Vaping360, Ecigclick, Planet of the Vapes and Vaping Post - never from brand marketing. Scores are attributed to their sources.
VERDICT - 5/5 (Vaping360); recommended by all four outlets
Top-of-class flavour, a battery that genuinely lasts a heavy day, and a 26-minute measured full charge - the fastest Vaping360 has tested. The one real caveat: fine wattage adjustment only unlocks with the 0.4 ohm pod, which is sold separately. With the included pods you get three power presets instead of a wattage dial. Everything else about this kit is refinement done right.

Design and build
Ecigclick and Vaping360 both single out the build: solid machining, no button rattle, strong pod magnets with almost no wiggle, and a paint finish that resists fingerprints. The button and airflow slider sit in recessed grooves, which Vaping360 credits for the lack of accidental firing or pocket adjustments - though Ecigclick did have settings change in a pocket a couple of times, the one handling complaint in four reviews. The clear pod shows the full liquid level, a small thing that three outlets praised because so many rivals hide it.
Screen and controls
The 0.88-inch colour screen shows battery percentage (including while you vape and while it charges), power level and puff count, with six themes - three of them animated while you draw. Controls are click-based: two clicks change theme, three change the power level (Eco, Normal, Power), four open the menu (screen lock, animations, puff reset, button on/off), five turn the device off. Ecigclick calls the display basic next to the bigger screens on some rivals, but nobody found it hard to read or use.
Flavour: COREX 3.0
All four outlets put the flavour at the top of the class, from both included pods. Vaping360 ran the same liquid side by side in a COREX 2.0 pod and a COREX 3.0 pod: the 3.0 rounds out the flavour profile more, but it is a refinement rather than a dramatic leap - good news if you already own XROS pods, because every earlier XROS pod fits this device, including the full COREX 2.0 range. Ecigclick notes the pods pick out individual flavour notes in complex liquids, and Planet of the Vapes found full flavour depth even on the Eco and Normal presets. Vaping360 was less convinced the three modes differ much in practice; Ecigclick felt clear steps between them. Either way, none of the four found a weak setting.
Battery and charging
This is where the XROS 5 separates itself. The 1500 mAh battery - up from 1000 mAh in the XROS 4 - delivered about 7.5 mL of e-liquid per charge in Vaping360's testing and, per Ecigclick, easily lasts a full day of heavy use on the 0.6 ohm pod, longer on the 0.8 with nicotine salts. And the fast-charge claim actually holds up: Vaping360 timed a full 0-100% charge at 26 minutes over the 3A USB-C connection, effectively beating the "80% in 20 minutes" headline. After the Wenax Q Pro's optimistic charging claims in our previous review, this is the exception that proves the rule - verified, not vibes.
Pods: lifespan and leaking
Pod longevity is the second standout. Vaping360 ran both included pods for two weeks: 24-28 mL of e-liquid each, still performing with no flavour fade. Ecigclick got over a week per pod. On leaking, the SSS design did its job - Ecigclick and Planet of the Vapes both explicitly report zero leaks (Planet of the Vapes even left pods standing for a day or two), with barely any condensation to wipe away.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Top-of-class flavour from both included pods (all four outlets)
- Full charge in about 26 minutes, measured - the fastest Vaping360 has tested
- 1500 mAh battery lasts a full day of heavy use (about 7.5 mL per charge)
- Pods last 24-28 mL with no fade; zero leaking reported
- Every XROS pod ever made fits, 0.4 to 1.2 ohm
- Full liquid level visible; premium build, no rattle
Cons
- Manual wattage adjustment requires the 0.4 ohm pod (sold separately); other pods get three presets
- The three power modes feel subtle to some testers
- Settings occasionally changed in a pocket in one outlet's testing
- An incremental refinement of the XROS formula, not a reinvention
Quick-start user guide
- Charge it. USB-C, about 26 minutes from empty to full. You can vape while it charges.
- Fill the pod. The XROS 5 uses clamshell top-fill: snap the mouthpiece cap off, fill the 2 mL pod, click the cap back on.
- Prime it. Wait 5 minutes before the first draw so the mesh coil saturates.
- Pick your clicks. Two clicks for screen theme, three for power level (start on Normal), four for the menu, five for on/off. Lock the fire button in the menu if you prefer draw-only.
- Set the airflow. Slide toward closed for a tighter MTL draw (best with the 0.8 ohm pod and salts), open it up with the 0.6 for a looser restricted-lung hit.
- Replace the pod when flavour finally fades - expect roughly 24-28 mL per pod. XROS replacement pods (4-pack) cover the full 0.4-1.2 ohm range; the 0.4 ohm pod is the one that unlocks full manual wattage up to 30W.
Who it is for
Buy the XROS 5 if flavour is your first priority, you want a battery and charge speed that keep up with a heavy day, or you already own XROS pods and want the best device to run them in. Current XROS 4 owners get a bigger battery and the COREX 3.0 pods as the upgrade case. Skip it only if fine-grained wattage control with every pod is a must - that requires the 0.4 ohm pod - or if you want a bigger screen.
FAQ
Does the XROS 5 leak?
No leaks were reported by any of the four independent reviewers; the SSS pod design held up even with pods left standing for days.
Why can't I set the wattage?
With the 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 ohm pods, output runs on the Eco, Normal and Power presets. Manual wattage adjustment up to 30W unlocks only with the 0.4 ohm XROS pod.
How long do XROS 5 pods last?
Vaping360 measured 24-28 mL per pod over two weeks with no flavour fade - several weeks for most users.
Do older XROS pods work in the XROS 5?
Yes - the full XROS family fits, including COREX 2.0 pods in 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 ohm. For the full compatibility picture, see our XROS pod compatibility guide.
