If you own a pod vape, the device is only half the equation. The other half is the replacement pod — the cartridge you slot in when the current one is empty, instead of throwing the whole device away. This guide walks through pre-filled and refillable pods, what to check before you buy, and the lines we carry at Aroma Vapes.
Pre-filled vs refillable: the two kinds of replacement pods
Replacement pods fall into two types. Pre-filled (closed) pods arrive sealed with e-liquid inside — click one in, vape, and swap it when it's empty. STLTH, Vuse and VEEV build their systems around this format. Empty (refillable) pods arrive empty; you fill them from a bottle of e-liquid and refill until the coil wears out. UWELL Caliburn, Vaporesso XROS and VOOPOO VRIZZ follow this format. Pre-filled pods are simplest; refillable pods offer flavour choice and lower cost per millilitre.
Five things to check before you buy
1. Compatibility. Pods are not interchangeable between brands, and often not between device generations from the same brand. For example, VOOPOO's V2 dual-mesh VRIZZ pods only deliver their full dual-resistance function on the VRIZZ 2 device. Always match the pod line to your exact device.
2. E-liquid capacity and puff count. Pre-filled pod capacities range from 2 mL per pod in the classic STLTH and Vuse ePod lines up to 30 mL in newer high-capacity systems. Where manufacturers publish puff ratings, note which mode they apply to: Boost or Turbo modes use e-liquid faster than standard modes.
3. Nicotine strength. Canada's federal cap is 20 mg/mL, and most pre-filled pods on the Canadian market sit right at that ceiling. Some lines sit lower (Vuse ePods are 18 mg/mL), and some brands also offer 0 mg nicotine-free options. Check the strength on the pack — it is printed on every compliant product in Canada.
4. Coil type. On refillable pods the coil is built in, so coil type is really a pod choice. Mesh coils are the current standard for even heating; some devices offer resistance options (for example, VOOPOO VRIZZ pods come in 0.4Ω and 0.7Ω mesh, plus a V2 dual-mesh version). Lower resistance generally means more vapour and a warmer draw; higher resistance suits a tighter, mouth-to-lung draw.
5. Pack size. Replacement pods are sold in packs of two, three or four. Compare price per pod, not per pack, to compare fairly.
Replacement pod lines on our shelves
STLTH Loop Max pods. The high-capacity pre-filled option: each Loop Max pod holds 30 mL of e-liquid at 20 mg/mL, rated for up to 70,000 puffs, with a vertical mesh coil and the device's Normal/Boost modes plus e-liquid level reading. The Loop Max battery also accepts VICE 80K (30 mL) and Elfbar 50K (20 mL) pods.
STLTH Original pods. The classic Canadian-made pod system: packs of three 2 mL pods at 20 mg/mL salt nicotine, with 0 mg nicotine-free versions and a Bold hybrid blend available in some flavours. Third-party STLTH-compatible lines like Z Pods and STLTH Savage pods (3 × 2 mL) are also stocked.
Vuse ePod. Two magnetic-fit pods per pack, 1.9 mL each, at 18 mg/mL — slightly under the federal cap. Compatible with all ePod devices. Flavours include Mint Ice, Strawberry, Peach, Blue Raspberry, Apple Sour, Vanilla and Cucumber.
VEEV ONE pods. Two pods per pack, 2 mL each, at 20 mg/mL (1.8%), rated up to 2,000 puffs per pack. They use a ceramic heating element, fit only the VEEV ONE device, and span mint, fruit and tobacco profiles plus a flavour-free Clear Taste option.
VOOPOO VRIZZ pods (refillable). Empty 15 mL pods, two per pack, in 0.4Ω or 0.7Ω mesh, with a V2 dual-mesh version (0.7Ω in ECO mode, 0.4Ω in NORM/TURBO) for the VRIZZ 2. Fill them with your own bottled e-liquid.
UWELL Caliburn and Vaporesso XROS pods (refillable). CRC child-resistant refillable pods — Caliburn G2 2 mL pods (2-pack) and Caliburn A2s 2 mL pods (4-pack) — for owners of those open pod kits. Fill, vape, refill, and replace the pod when flavour drops off.
Nicotine strengths, factually
In Canada, nicotine concentration in vaping products is capped federally at 20 mg/mL, and every product sold in Canada must comply. Most pre-filled pods — STLTH, VEEV, Allo, Loop Max — are sold at that 20 mg/mL ceiling. Vuse sits at 18 mg/mL. If you want no nicotine at all, STLTH offers 0 mg versions of some flavours, and refillable pods let you fill with 0 mg bottled e-liquid. Strength is always printed on compliant Canadian packaging.
Who replacement pods are for
Replacement pods suit adult vapers who already own a pod system and want to keep using it Pre-filled pods fit adults who value simplicity: no bottles, no coil changes, just swap and go. Refillable pods fit adults who want flavour flexibility or lower ongoing cost and don't mind filling from a bottle. For adults 19+ in Ontario, the staff at Aroma Vapes can match a pod line to your device and preferences.
